Boston Genomics Instrument Sales Specialist

Our Client:
  • Manufacturer of research and clinical array assays. Develops proprietary gene expression assays for a variety of tissue types and disease states. Our client has a core competency in Translational Medicine.
Territory:
  • Boston
  • Covers New England excluding CT  but mostly in the Boston/Cambridge area  
  • 10% travel
Compensation
  • Base $80-100k+$50k commission that includes a 4 month commission guarantee at $2,500/month.
  • Commissions UNCAPPED, paid monthly
  • Instrument and reagent commissions pay 50% more than lab services, based on territory plan number.
  • PLUS Quarterly spiffs and large kit or lab services orders and a $5,000 for instrument sales over $95k.
  • Car allowance $600/month + gas
  • Full benefits

Educations:
  • B.S. in life sciences, advanced degree preferred

Expectations:
  • 5 years’+ selling capital equipment in the life science field.
    • These instruments sell for $125k
    • This is a consultative role, not simply transactional,
  • Demonstrated sales success in the life science instrument market with a focus on translational medicine and genomics
    • Preferred experience:
      • NGS, RNA, miRNA experience strongly
      • Previous employment with a startup company preferred
      • Genomics research experience preferred
Responsibilities:
  • Selling to:
    • Academic
    • Biotech
    • Government
    • Pharma
  • Deliver the revenue plan for the assigned territory
  • Develop a strategic Territory, Account specific sales plan
  • Prospect, qualify and develop leads
  • Develop an emerging customer base with reagent annuity revenue 
  • Own, manage and advance the sales process of all forecasted and funnel accounts
  • Present or provide support for seminars to potential customers
  • Become a field sales expert in Miller-Heiman strategic selling model in the Academic, Government & Pharma space
  • Exercise administrative responsibility for required reports and entries into Salesforce.com

Requirements:
  • Must have Green Card or be a US citizen
  • Must possess and maintain a current Passport
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and a good motor vehicle driving record.
